Working as part of the BBC's Linked Data Platform team I lead the development of our new open data website, BBC Things. The website provides a single reference for all of the concepts that are used across the BBC. I wrote a blog post explaining the project over on the BBC's Internet Blog.

The new responsive BBC Weather site
Working in the BBC's Weather team I lead the development of the new responsive Weather site. Building on the huge success of our native apps, we embarked on a mobile-first reimagining of our product for the web. I worked closely with our talented user experience designers to prototype and build the new site. The location search component that we built was later adopted as a standard interaction pattern across the BBC, and now features on the new homepage and travel sites.
The new BBC iPlayer
Working within the BBC's TV & iPlayer team I helped deliver the new, responsive iPlayer. I worked on various front-end modules for the site, including the new programme search, navigation and the content streams that appear on the homepage, channel and category pages. I also worked on the new iPlayer API that powers the responsive site as well as the native mobile and Connected TV apps.
ORB on bbc.co.uk pages
Working within the Platform team I helped deliver the BBC's new responsive navigation module, ORB. Visually, this includes the global masthead and footer present on every page of the site, but also provides PHP and Javascript frameworks used by other BBC teams. One of the project's key goals was to minimise page weight, following the philosophy pioneered by BBC News. ORB is now live on most BBC pages including the homepage, iPlayer Radio and TV.
The URN homepage
I worked on a complete redesign of the URN website in my second year at the station. The aim was to give URN a distinctive and exciting visual style whilst creating a functional and well-structured site. I also developed the unique style of our specialist music brand: URN After Dark. Audio Management
Audio Management is a web app created to organise and catalogue URN's audio files. I was responsible for the design and front-end code. It allows presenters to search for music, create cartwalls and build playlists. The project was awarded Best Technical Achievement at the 2010 Student Radio Awards and more details can be found on the awards website.
The URN radioplayer
I designed and developed URN's Radioplayer console in 2011. The console makes use of push technology to display tracks in real-time as they're played in the studio. One of the main aims of the project was to make the best use of the limited space available, which was acheived using a tabbed content region with sliding panels.
